The Montessori Gardens provides students with the ability to have tactile learning in nature. Students begin the spring season by preparing the grounds for planting and spreading the compost that has been collected all school year. Seed starts are planted indoors under grow lights and are later transplanted into the garden.
The children are then charged with caring for plants, which can include watering, weeding and harvesting. Great joy comes from the farming process along with enjoying the nutritious and delicious vegetables as a school snack; thus, providing a complete experience of bringing fresh produce to the table!
Montessori Gardens is open to the public for self-guided tours during the daylight hours and provides paved pathways for all levels of mobility. The Garden provides relaxing vistas for neighboring business and residents, while fostering youthful exuberance.
