The afternoon Kindergarten work time runs from about 1:30 - 3:00pm. The kindergarten class size does not usually go above 8 students, so this is a perfect time to work on specific studies that will prepare the child for the move onto first grade.
The kindergarten curriculum includes geometry, advanced language studies, a weekly writing group (where the children are taught how to correctly form letters on lined paper), geography, all basic math functions and fractions. Many of the children will also advance to doing dynamic math, telling time and square numbers.
To help further develop their social skills, each month the K class visits our local retirement center where they are paired up with an elderly resident partner. During each visit, the children do a little craft, or activity, with their partner. This monthly visit is a favorite with both the children and their partners.
